Mrs. Ivy Palmer is a graduate of Georgetown High School. She attended Clemson University for her undergraduate studies and received a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She attended the College of Charleston for her graduate degree and received a Masters of Education in Math and Science.


 Mrs. Palmer has worked in a variety of scientific settings. Prior to becoming a teacher she worked closely with her undergraduate professors at Clemson University. As a result of the research conducted, she was able to publish her first scientific journal. Upon graduation, she took a research position at the University of South Carolina Baruch Marine Laboratory located in Georgetown, SC. She worked there for two years as a lab analyst testing various water samples. Mrs. Palmer then took a job at General Engineering Laboratories in Charleston, SC also as a lab analyst.

Her teaching career began in 2002 in Charleston County School District. She initially taught at the middle school level and then moved to the high school level where she taught Biology, Anatomy and Health Science Technology. In 2008, Mrs. Palmer got a position at Georgetown High School where she currently teaches. Mrs. Palmer received her National Board Certification in 2016 in Biology Education.


       Mrs. Palmer is a Georgetown native from the North Santee Community.  She is married and has one daughter who attends Georgetown Middle School.  She resides in Georgetown, SC.
