Bio

Linda Maxwell grew up in a small town in New Mexico and attended Belen High School where she was active in journalism, chorus, student council, Spanish Club, Staters Club and Las Aguilas Drill Team.  After working several years as a grocery clerk and attending community college, she received a transfer scholarship to the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, completing her Bachelor's degree in Communication and then her Master's Degree in the secondary education internship program.

Years later, while living in Kentucky, she completed a second MA in English with emphasis on creative writing and British literature. For the past five years, she has served as poetry editor for Eastern Kentucky University's Chaffin Journal while developing her own poems, essays and stories.  Ms. Maxwell has been fortunate to teach in many areas of the world including Kentucky, Guam, Laguna-Acoma, Virginia and most recently, Georgetown, South Carolina. She has one daughter, Tara, who lives, works and attends graduate school in Washington, DC.
