Horatio Alger Scholarship
The Horatio Alger Association is offering up to $25,000 for scholarships to students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be a high school senior.
• Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)
• Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
• Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
• Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0
• Be a United States citizen

The South Carolina Honors College Writing Contest
The South Carolina Honors College is offering a writing contest to high school juniors and seniors. Applicants must write a 750 word essay on the topic “How should we improve the state of South Carolina?” For more information, please stop by the guidance office. Coca-Cola Scholars Program
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.
Eligibility Requirements:
-Current high school student attending a school in the US who will graduate during the 2018-2019 academic school year
-Be a US citizen
-Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited US post-secondary institution.

2019 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards
The 2019 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards wants to hear from students who have made a difference through community service. If you are a high school student who has raised money for an important cause, or coordinated a neighborhood clean-up, you may apply. Those are just some examples. Every high school may select a local honoree. These honorees are then eligible for statewide recognition, a $1,000 award, a silver medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, DC. The ten National Honorees will receive an additional $5,000 award, a gold medallion, a crystal trophy, and $5,000 in grants to be given to the charity of their choice. After submitting the electronic application, students must also send the application to Leigh Owens (Lowens@gcsd.k12.sc.us) and print a hard copy to be turned in to guidance. Only one application can be submitted by each school. The school will select the top applicant. The John Montgomery Belk Scholarship
Davidson College is offering The John Montgomery Belk Scholarship to recognize and reward students of demonstrated intellectual and personal achievement and significant leadership ability. Winners of this scholarship will receive annually renewable scholarship valued at $65,819. If you are interested in going to Davidson College, please stop by the guidance department. Deadline to apply is November 9, 2018.

Most Valuable Student Scholarship
The Elks National Foundation is offering the Most Valuable Student Scholarship ranging in the amount of $50,000 over 4 years to $4,000 over 4 years. To be eligible, students must be a high school senior and a U.S. citizen. Applicants will be judged based on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. The Robertson Scholars Program
Any student that is interested in attending and has applied to Duke University and/or UNC-Chapel Hill, please stop by the guidance office for information about a possible scholarship. Deadline to apply is November 15, 2018.

South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship
The South Carolina Junior Golf Foundations offers scholarship aid to deserving students who meet their criteria.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Applicant must be a senior in a South Carolina high school or an undergraduate in a South Carolina college or university.
• Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale through the spring 2018 semester.
• Applicant must be a South Carolina resident.
• Applicant must have a competitive or recreational interest in golf.
• Recipients must attend an accredited public or private, four-year college or university located in South Carolina in the fall of 2019.

SC Teaching Fellows
The South Carolina Teaching Fellowship mission is to recruit talented high school seniors into the teaching profession and to help them develop leadership qualities. Applicants can receive up to $6,000/per year for a total of $24,000. For more information and to apply, please visit their website at www.cerra.org. All applications must be submitted online. Governor Robert E. McNair Scholarship
Francis Marion University is offering the Governor Robert E. McNair Scholarship to 3 deserving high school seniors who plan on attending Francis Marion in the Fall of 2019.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Applicant must be a full-time South Carolina resident.
• Applicant must be a high school senior.
• Applicant must be admitted to FMU prior to the December 3 McNair deadline.
• Applicant must have a combined SAT score (Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math) of 1160 or higher or a 24 or higher on the ACT score.

University of Virginia
Any student that is planning on attending the University of Virginia and would like to be nominated for a scholarship, please stop by the guidance office and see Ms. Owens. Deadline for nomination is December 3, 2018.

Lyceum Scholars Program
Clemson University is offering the Lyceum Scholars Program. This program offers a $2,500 scholarship which is renewable for up to four years. Lyceum Scholars will study the moral, political, and economics foundations of a free society. In addition to receiving this scholarship, recipients are paired with a faculty mentor, who guides their intellectual development throughout the program. Interested students please see guidance for more information. Priority Deadline is December 10, 2018.

The Silver Pen
The Lakes at Litchfield retirement community will offer a one-time scholarship to a deserving high school senior. First place winner will receive a plaque and $1,500. Second place winner will receive a certificate and $1,000. Third place winner will receive a certificate and $750. Fourth place winner will receive a certificate and $500.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Applicant must be a high school senior living within or attending a school within 25 miles of The Lakes at Litchfield.

ZipRecruiter Scholarship
ZipRecruiter is offering a $3,000 scholarship to a deserving high school student with the most creative entry. Applicants must write a 250 word follow-up email after a job interview and a 250 word description discussing each section they chose to include in their email template.
Eligibility Requirements:
-Applicant must be a legal resident of one of the fifty United States or the District of Columbia.
-Applicant must be 18 years of age or older (or at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence).
-Applicant must be enrolled as a student at an accredited high school, college or university in the United States.

Kittie Moss Fairey Educational Fund Scholarship
The Kittie Moss Fairey Educational Fund offers scholarship aid to deserving students who meet certain academic and financial criteria.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Applicants must be high school seniors enrolled in a South Carolina high school.
• Applicants must be South Carolina residents.
• Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale through the spring 2018 Semester.
• Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
• Applicants must be planning to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the state of South Carolina.

Harry Hampton Scholarship
The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund is offering a $5,000 scholarship for up to 4 consecutive years to help students further their education in the natural resources discipline.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Applicant must be a full time resident of South Carolina and a senior in a public or private high school in South Carolina.
• Recipient must attend an institution of higher learning in South Carolina.
• Recipient must have a major in the natural resources discipline such as: wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, marine science or environmental science to qualify (NOTE: Agriculture, general biology, pre-medical biology and veterinary science are NOT eligible for this scholarship)
• Recipient must maintain a GPR of 2.5 or above for a given academic year to receive funds for the following year.

Wallace F. Pate Scholarship
The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund is also offering the Wallace F. Pate Scholarship in the amount of $2,500. This is a one-time award to help further their education in the natural resources discipline.

• Applicants must be a full time resident of South Carolina and a senior in a public or private high school in South Carolina.
• Recipient must attend an institution of higher learning in South Carolina.

James O. Thomason Scholarship
The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund is also offering the James O. Thomason Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 annually for 4 years. This scholarship is to help students further their education in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations or mass communications.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Applicant must be a full time resident of South Carolina and a senior in a public or private high school in South Carolina.
• Recipient must attend an institution of higher learning in South Carolina.
• Recipient must declare a major in electronic, print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations or mass communications to qualify.
• Recipient must maintain a GPR of 2.5 or above for a given academic year to receive funds for the following year.

David M. Cline Scholarship
The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund is also offering the David M. Cline Scholarship in the amount of $2,000. This one time award is to help a student further their education in law enforcement, criminal justice, forensics or forensic science.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Applicant must be a full time resident of South Carolina and a senior in a public or private high school in South Carolina.
• The recipient must attend an institution of higher learning in South Carolina.
• The recipient must enroll in a major in law enforcement, criminal justice, forensics or forensic science to qualify (NOTE: Biology or Pre-Med students seeking a degree in forensic pathology and related course/curriculum studies DO NOT QUALIFY).

SC Governor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities Journalism Contest
The winner of the 2019 Journalism Contest receives a four-year scholarship to the South Carolina state-supported institution of his or her choice. This year’s journalism contest topic is “America’s Workforce: Empowering All.” Applicants must be between the ages of 16-19 and a senior in high school. You do not have to have a disability to enter. 2019 Georgetown Kraft Credit Union Scholarship
Georgetown Kraft Credit Union will award $1,000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors that display exemplary character, work ethic and strong educational goals.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Applicant must be graduating high school in Georgetown or Williamsburg County.
• Applicant must be an active GKCU member or child/relative of GKCU member.
• Applicant must be planning to enroll at least a minimum of 12 hours of credit per semester at their post-secondary institution.

Suntrust Off to College Sweepstakes is offering thirty (30) $500 scholarships to deserving high school seniors. Peck Law Firm Scholarship
The Peck Law Firm in Charleston, SC is offering a $2,000 scholarship to a deserving high school senior who plans to attend college, graduate school, or law school degree.
